Last night I went to the sauna with one of my friends. We ended up talking about the reality of life. To me it is all about perception. How someone perceives, one and the same situation, can be substantially different.
Neale Donald Walsch wrote: “Quantum physics tells us that nothing that is observed is unaffected by the observer. That statement, from science, holds enormous and powerful insight. It means that everyone sees a different truth, because everyone is creating what they see.”
You create your own realities. You paint your own picture. Perception is an incredibly powerful concept.
I told my friend, I imagine to have this enormous drawer of pairs of glasses. All I need to do is open up that drawer and pick a pair. It allows me to see the world from a different angle. I can look out of the exact same window in my office, and see things very differently, depending on the pair of glasses I am wearing.
Through what happens, and the things we do, we collect pairs of glasses, through which we can view the world. For instance, a series of happy thoughts, creates a pair of happy glasses. On the other hand, when we feel melancholic for a while, we create a melancholic pair of glasses.
We can even lose a pair of glasses. Sometimes, we feel so miserable, for so many days in a row, that we just can’t find our happy pair of glasses anymore. We can try lending each other our glasses, but that often does not work very well. They either don’t fit the other person’s style. Or just have a different dioptric.
Trying to see things through the glasses of someone else can be interesting though. And if we hang out with positive people a lot, we tend to find out, that we also have a pair of positive glasses in our own drawer.
Yesterday I was wearing a rather melancholic pair for a large part of the day. Today I am going to pull out a happy pair. I plan to make this day a joyful day. Never mind the weather, today for me the sun is going to shine :-)
I hope you will have a joyful day as well and I wish you a large collection of dazzling pairs of glasses.
“Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.”
