This morning my duty was to bake cake. My daughter’s favorite cake is citron cake. With icing, lots of icing. My son said it’s pretty simple: “Mom, a cake isn’t a cake without icing”.
And so it is with life. Life also needs a little frosting. Some humor, some wit, some fanciness, a little bit of glamour, an extra spoon of Nutella . . .
It made me think of Walt Disney. He knew like no other that the icing on the cake was terribly important.
He said so many things I wholeheartedly agree with. He had a great talent for embracing his inner child.
That’s the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up.
Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.
Over at our place, we’re sure of just one thing: everybody in the world was once a child.
He believed in the power of telling people stories. Stories that to a certain degree have the power to change reality. Because they broaden people’s horizons and shape their minds.
Movies can and do have tremendous influence in shaping young lives in the realm of entertainment towards the ideals and objectives of normal adulthood. – I would rather entertain and hope that people learned something than educate people and hope they were entertained.
The Disney characters are such a wonderful mirror of ourselves.
When people laugh at Mickey Mouse, it’s because he’s so human; and that is the secret of his popularity.
And even though everyone is different we are never as unique as we imagine to be, and that is strangely comforting I think.
We have created characters and animated them in the dimension of depth, revealing through them to our perturbed world that the things we have in common far outnumber and outweigh those that divide us.
He knew how to dream big and think big. But he also knew that it needs more than just dreaming to take you there. You need to surround yourself with the right people and find those that want to invest in your dream. It takes hard work, courage, persistence and most of all a believe beyond all doubt to make your dreams come true.
You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality. – I’d say it’s been my biggest problem all my life… it’s money. It takes a lot of money to make these dreams come true. – When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.
In bad times and good, I have never lost my sense of zest for life – All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them! – If you can dream it, you can do it!
You have to be unstoppable. He would not let anyone stop him, not even himself.
We allow no geniuses around our Studio.
We are not trying to entertain the critics. I’ll take my chances with the public.
He did not hide the fact that life isn’t simple. But there is always an angle that put’s everything in a brighter light. We just have to find that angle.
When we do fantasy, we must not lose sight of reality
Well, of course, happiness is a state of mind. You can be happy, or you can be unhappy. It’s just according to the way you look at things.
I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter.
Life may not always be easy, but if we stay curious we will find places we hadn’t even dared dream off.
When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do. – We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things because we’re curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding.
I am writing this post at 11 o’clock at night after throwing a birthday party for 13 kids. When I started writing, I tell you I felt more dead than alive :-) But just by writing this I realized once more how much I believe in his words. And I am right awake again.
Life isn’t simple, but it is so worth it . . . If only everyone knew.
