A week ago I started my writing class with Joshua from The Minimalist. His writing style is impressive and I felt he would make a great teacher.
Joshua often ends his conversations with 3 words: “Take it simple”. Yesterday I used those 3 words myself for the very first time. I told someone to “Take it simple”.
There is a lot more meaning behind these 3 words than just a simple goodbye to me. I feel I should use these 3 words sparingly. Many times people really should take life more simple though. So why do I feel these 3 words ought to be used carefully?
In my introduction to the class community I wrote that I do not tend to overthink things. I quite immediately know what’s right or wrong for me. Yet here I am, catching myself completely overthinking this.
Suddenly my brain makes a connection. When I get told to “Take it simple” – it feel as if someone tells me I am complicated. And I do not like to get told that I am complicated. What an insight. Already the fact that I feel this, means I am complicated :-)
I will embrace these 3 words right here, right now.
