I enjoyed the feedback on my little video series that much that I felt like I needed to create another one. Before distributing it I asked a few colleagues to give me their feedback.
One of them is British but he can be as direct as a Dutch person. He probably has been abroad too long to live the English politeness :-)
He wrote me:
“The angle of the camera gives prominence to your nose. Instead of getting a message from Deanna about your blue eyes, you might get one about your clean nose. ;-) You won’t be able to make these videos if you ever get a cold. “
Now that is what I call honest and clear feedback. I was glad I asked him as it was clear I need to do a “take 2”
You try – you learn – you do it again – not a problem at all!
My personal tip for soliciting feedback
Ask at least 3 people:
- One person that usually has a completely different view of things
- One person who is extremely honest and blunt – and comfortable telling you the full truth
- One person that generally loves everything you do :-)
