On Friday’s I go to yoga. I have the most wonderful yoga teacher. Yoga helps me to balance out my week. Yesterday I got to the fitness studio and was told the class was cancelled because Hyun had an accident. Luckily I was told he will be ok again soon.
So there I stand. I did not even bring any sports shoes after all you don’t need shoes to do yoga. The lady at the entrance looked at my shoes and said: “They’ll do fine.” I did not feel like leaving without having done anything. So I decided to get on one of those cardio machines and burn some calories.
I did not bring any music so pretty soon I was slightly bored. My mind started to wonder off. Thinking about ice cream . . . The weather has been very nice the past few days, and I couldn’t help myself but I was craving for some ice cream. So here I stand on this cardio machine burning calories and thinking about Ice cream.
Pretty paradox :-) But hey I am a practical person so I think: How many calories does an ice cream have? 150 -200 or even more? It is clear to me that every ice cream is a bit different from that matter of fact. So I decide that after burning 150 calories I can go to the supermarket and find an ice cream that has 150 or fewer calories. Many different kinds of ice creams are running through my brain. Cornetto classic, Magnum almonds (perhaps a mini as the regular size will surely be more than 150 ), Ben & Jerry’s, Capri split, Calippo . . .
It took me a little more than 20 minutes that get to my goal. When I got off, I felt like doing just a few sit ups and then go get my reward. So I did, and off I went to the supermarket. I also needed to get some lunch so on the way to the supermarket I started to think of all the things I wanted to eat.
I bought salad, little tomatoes, avocado, some goat cheese, some apples . . . and when I got to the car, I realized, I had totally forgotten to buy ice cream.
Hilarious, for nearly half an hour all I was thinking of was ice cream and then I go buy ice cream, and instead I buy salad and apples :-)
I had to laugh about myself. . . I could have gone back in to buy my desperately wanted ice cream, but I realized I did not need to. I drove off with a big smile on my face and prepared a delicious salad and as dessert ate some wonderful juicy pink lady apple slices.
Was it just me being forgetful again? I don’t think so. After sports I somehow always feel like eating more healthy. I feel so much better. Even after working out for a very short time.
What did I learn? Never go to the supermarket with an empty stomach UNLESS you just came from sports, and you tick like me :-)
When is the last time you did some exercise? How did it feel for you?
