How was your Pay it forward day?
I wanted to do something special for someone yesterday, but I am afraid I have nothing notable to share.
My day started off with my fitness class being cancelled. The public transportation in Cologne for some reason did not run their normal schedule, so the trainer got stuck and missed the first hour. Too bad but there were enough machines to keep us busy, so we changed our plans, and my friend ran me through her fitness schedule. It seemed to be the kind of schedule that gets you “Michelle Obama arms”. I can still feel it now :-)
The rest of the day, I spend packing up some stuff and driving to the Netherlands. Lot’s of road construction made us hit one traffic jam after the other so we spend well over 6 hours in the car. Not exactly fun but it was also not totally unexpected as long weekends usually result in extra busy roads. Upon arrival, we had some typical Dutch fast food (frikandellen) and then the day was pretty much over already.
I did not exactly meet many people that I could have done a favor. So other than being a kind driver and saying thank you with a smile at the supermarket counter, I have nothing to brag about. As if I would ever brag anyway :-)
I’ll find another day to pay it forward. Which, by the way, does not need to be anything big and exciting. There are some fabulous examples, where a tiny gesture caused a huge chain reaction.
Like the guy in New York that paid 1 dollar extra for a slice for someone else. The pizza restaurant owner put the slice as a sticky note on the wall and here is what happened . . .
