In the community forum of my writing course, I met a wonderful woman named Erin. She loves horses. You can tell from everything she writes that horses are incredibly important to her.
It is wonderful when your passion is that clear to you. In Germany we also call it a “Roter Faden” a red thread that is woven through your life. A special theme that keeps re-occurring and gives life some sort of stability. A secure footing.
I read somewhere: “Ignoring your passion is slow suicide. Never ignore what your heart pumps for.”
But what is it that my heart pumps for?
For me, it is not so clear-cut. I love so many different things.
I love to hug my kids in the morning, I love to finish a project at work, I love to be at the beach where I grew up, I love seeing my family and friends, I love to go out dancing but I also love a good night of sleep, I love a good glass of wine as much as I love a great cup of tea, I love to go shopping with my mom, I love to hear my daughter and my dad play the piano, I love to see my husband’s eyes after his favorite soccer team won a game, I love the sarcastic humor of some of my colleagues, I love a sunny day, I love the smell of the air after rain, I love a good book, I love making people compliments as much as I love getting them, I love chocolate but I also love radishes, I love to discover new places as much as I love my hammock, I love colors and I love black & white, I love to talk and recently I figured out I also love to write.
No wonder my heart runs off with me once in a while :-)
We often hear it is all about making the right choices. But what if I just do not want to choose. I don’t want to cut down on anything. Rather so, I keep finding more things I love. You can’t do everything at once. But you can do everything you want, right? It is all a matter of making time for what is right for you now.
So how do you know that? Here is where intuition to me is very important.
It is great to ask yourself “Why?” once in a while but there is a real beauty in following your intuition and just doing what feels right.
Wasn’t it Steve Jobs that said; Some things only make sense afterward.
No matter what you do though, do things you love, as by doing what you love, you inspire & awaken the hearts of others. It is what makes you shine.
We lose ourselves in things we love . . . we find ourselves there, too.

What do you love?

I love lots of thing, too, Titia. Most of all, though, I love thoughtful, supportive people like you and the things they do to help others flourish in using their uniquely human gifts of imagination and free will.
