Yesterday I challenged myself to do a skipping exercise. With the aim to awaken my inner child and identify an upcoming activity, I would like to skip.
My biggest revelation: There is nothing coming up this week that I would like to skip!
Wow, that even surprised me, and I really gave myself a hard time on this one. But no matter how I turned it, the result stayed the same. I guess you can officially call me a happy camper :-)
What a wonderful realization.
Here a few more conclusions:
- Skipping together with my daughter comes more natural than skipping all by myself => It’s easier to keep your inner child alive when you are surrounded by children.
- A good round of skipping can make you feel damn alive. My heart skipped a beat or two => Skipping makes good exercise
- I felt light-hearted and a bit silly but it was fun. Most, if not all, people I met, smiled back => I wrote it before: Smile at the world and the world smiles back!
- When you skip sideways, you leave only half a trace. I did not even think about this until I looked at the footsteps I left in the sand. I even took a picture :-) => You’re still moving when you are going sideways but it does feel and look different.
- Skipping backwards is pretty difficult and at times dangerous => Not something I like to repeat. I prefer moving forwards.
Last but not least, I realized that already the intention of going for a round of skipping can get you up on your feet. Perhaps you end up walking, running or even dancing, any movement is better than no movement at all.
